The ASE is an international nonprofit professional and educational organization. Founded in 1985, it comprises over 400 flown astronauts and cosmonauts from 37 nations. International cooperation is crucial to shape the path and resources for future space exploration. As we leverage international capabilities to fly beyond low Earth orbit, the need for professional exchange among astronauts and cosmonauts makes the ASE increasingly relevant and necessary.
ASE-USA is one of four regional chapters of the international Association of Space Explorers, representing current and former flown astronauts and cosmonauts who are citizens of or permanently reside in the United States or Canada. ASE-USA operates in alignment with the general principles as codified in the original Charter of the international ASE, but under the direction of its regional Board of Directors.
Our Vision: A world where living, working, and exploring in space will be as familiar to humanity as life on our home planet.
Our Mission: ASE-USA applies the unique perspective of its members to promote the global benefits of space science, exploration and international cooperation; to educate and inspire future generations; and to foster better stewardship of our home planet.
