The ISSInternational Space Station is a thriving proving ground for a wide variety of in-orbit R&D capabilities. As the manager of the ISS National Lab, CASIS(Abbreviation: CASIS™) The nonprofit organization that manages the ISS National Lab, which receives at least 50 percent of the U.S. research allocation on the International Space Station to facilitate research that benefits humanity (NASA manages the other 50% and focuses on research for space exploration purposes). is charged with the responsibility of fully utilizing the ISS and enabling the development of technology that enhances utilization by commercial companies, other government agencies, and educational entities. CASIS establishes agreements to formalize a contractual relationship, funded or unfunded, that provides awardees with the opportunity to leverage theunique attributes of the ISS that are most relevant to their mission.
