Focus Areas: Physical Sciences, Technology Development/Demonstration
Jacobs XPrSS partners with principal investigators to achieve mutual goals, advancing science and exploration objectives with rapid access to the International Space Station. Jacobs focuses on the integration process so the principal investigator can focus on research. Jacobs navigates the engineering design processes and integrates payloads for the unique environmental conditions on-board the ISS—providing principal investigators a clear map to get their research into space.
Jacobs XPrSS provides principal investigators expertise from concept to launch, preventing payloads from missing or repeating steps in the certification process for the ISS. Jacobs assists in ISS payload development during:
- Phase 0 – Conceptual Design and Preliminary
Safety Assessment; - Phase I – Preliminary Design and Safety Control Plan;
- Phase II – Mature Design Safety Verification Plan; and
- Phase III – Completed Hardware and Safety Verification Reports.
Design, Development, Engineering, and Test Capabilities Include:
- Launch vehicle, spacecraft, and payload
integration and processing; - Operations and development of processes and ground systems
to support integration, processing, and launch via SpaceX
Dragon or Orbital ATK Cygnus; - Design, feasibility assessments, manufacturing, servicing, and
testing of flight hardware; - Transportation, including import and export control; and
- Launch of development and operational flights.
