The SETI Institute is a nonprofit research and education organization focused on the search for life beyond Earth. We support NASA missions to destinations in our own Solar System and look for signs of technology as proxy for life and intelligence far beyond using advanced radio telescopes, laser cameras and other scientific missions.
The Institute is home to more than 100 world-class research and affiliates representing nearly all the natural sciences. From astrophysics to planetary science, chemistry to geology and biology to radio astronomy, we are investigating some of the most important and profound questions in all of science: How did life begin? Have intelligence and technology emerged on other worlds? How do we search for life beyond Earth? What are the implications of ‘contact?’
We leverage the passion the public shares for these questions to improve science literacy through educational programs and outreach efforts that include lectures, workshops, Artists-in-Residence and a weekly science radio show and podcast.
