Plants in Space Teacher’s Guide

This teacher’s guide was published in 2012 to let middle and high school students imitate experiments with Brassica rapa that were taking place on the ISS. It gives clear background information about plant systems with excellent illustrations. After preparing agar agar plant growth medium in flasks and building a growth chamber lit by LEDs, students do three experiments:

1. Study the effect of light (5 days)
2. Study the effect of gravity (2 weeks)
3. Build a 2D clinostat and study the effect of simulated microgravity (at least 5 days)
