Expanding the ISS National Lab R&D Portfolio

NG10 launch

Fiscal year 2018 (FY18) was a banner year for expansion of the International Space Station (ISS) National Lab research and development (R&D) portfolio. In FY18, the ISS National Lab selected 50 new projects and programs, representing the most portfolio growth for any single year to date. Private-sector utilization of the ISS National Lab continues to increase, and more than 70% of the payloads delivered to the ISS National Lab in FY18 involved private-sector R&D. Currently, more than $150 million in external, non-NASA funding supports individual research projects onboard the ISS National Lab—a 50% increase in fiscal year 2018.
