Genes (and PCR) in Space!
Anna-Sophia Boguraev was a high school student when she won the first-ever Genes in Space™ competition. Genes in Space™ is a the ISSInternational Space Station National Lab-sponsored contest challenging students in grades 7 through 12 to design an experiment to solve a real-life space exploration problem through DNA analysis. Boguraev’s winning experiment, which hopes to offer new avenues to enhance human health during prolonged spaceflight missions, launched to the International Space Station on April 8, 2016.
