Showcasing Commercial Technology Innovation on the Space Station

ISS Oct2018

At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas next week, International Space Station (ISS) National Lab Associate Program Scientist Liz Warren will participate in a SuperSession focused on exploring technology and advanced materials innovation in space. CES, organized by the Consumer Technology Association, brings together a global community to discuss innovations and breakthroughs in consumer technologies. This year, CES is expected to draw an attendance of more than 182,000, with more than 4,000 exhibiting companies.

Panelists in the SuperSession also include Mark Fernandez, Americas HPC technology officer at Hewlett Packard Enterprise, and Andrew Rush, president and CEO of Made In Space, Inc. The session will discuss how companies are leveraging the unique environment of the ISS National Lab to advance consumer products that benefit life back on Earth.

Both Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Made In Space were presented with an International Space Station Innovation Award at the 2018 ISS Research and Development Conference—Hewlett Packard Enterprise for their innovative work on the Spaceborne Computer and Made In Space for their innovative work on ZBLAN optical fiber production in microgravity.
