Space to Ground: Some Serious Science: 02/08/2018
This week’s video update highlights some of the science happening on the International Space Station including investigating how fire behaves in microgravityThe condition of perceived weightlessness created when an object is in free fall, for example when an object is in orbital motion. Microgravity alters many observable phenomena within the physical and life sciences, allowing scientists to study things in ways not possible on Earth. The International Space Station provides access to a persistent microgravity environment.. Results of this research could help fuel efficiency and reduce pollution here on Earth. After launching into space inside Space Shuttle Atlantis, ESA’s Columbus laboratory celebrated ten years as part of the ISSInternational Space Station where astronauts conduct investigations that can be done only in the microgravity environment of space.
