Since 2014, the Center for the Advancement of Science in Space, Inc. (CASIS(Abbreviation: CASIS™) The nonprofit organization that manages the ISS National Lab, which receives at least 50 percent of the U.S. research allocation on the International Space Station to facilitate research that benefits humanity (NASA manages the other 50% and focuses on research for space exploration purposes).), manager of the International Space Station (ISSInternational Space Station) National Laboratory, and Boeing have funded an annual Technology in Space PrizeA prize that provides grant funding for business startups participating in the MassChallenge startup accelerator program to conduct innovative research and technology development utilizing the ISS National Lab. The prize is funded by the Center for the Advancement of Science in Space, which manages the ISS National Lab, and Boeing.. The prize is open to startups that participate in a MassChallenge program and provides an opportunity to utilize the ISS National Lab to conduct innovative research and technology development (R&D).

The Technology in Space Prize provides startups with grant funding, operational and science support for spaceflight projects, and the use of ISS National Lab-allocated upmass, downmass, and crew time. Results from space-based R&D have led to improvements in startup technology and access to new capital.
Steps for Applying to this Research Opportunity
This solicitation will follow a two-step proposal submission process. Before being invited to submit a full proposal, all interested investigators must first complete and submit for review a Step 1: Concept Summary.

CASIS will notify all offerors of the review results of their Step 1: Concept Summary.
