Conference to be held virtually August 3-5, and registration is free

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER (FL), May 14, 2021 – The 10th annual International Space Station Research and Development Conference (ISSRDC) is open for registration! The event, which will take place virtually August 3-5, is hosted by the Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS), manager of the International Space Station (ISS) U.S. National Laboratory; NASA; and the American Astronautical Society.

ISSRDC brings together researchers, engineers, entrepreneurs, investors, and the general public to discuss the benefits of space-based research and technology development and showcase the critical work being done on the orbiting laboratory to bring value to our nation and drive a robust and sustainable market in low Earth orbit. The theme for ISSRDC 2021 is “Challenge. Partnership. Transformation.” The virtual event is free to attend; however, registration is required.

Speakers at this year’s conference will include NASA and ISS National Lab leadership, policy makers, investigators, hardware developers, venture capitalists, and more. Sessions will explore a wide range of topics, including:

  • Space policy
  • Regenerative medicine
  • In-space production applications
  • Advanced materials
  • Investment in the evolving low Earth orbit economy
  • Inspiring the next generation through space-based research and programs

“For 10 years, ISSRDC has been a gathering of those interested in leveraging space to push the limits of science, technology development, and innovation,” said CASIS Chief Operating Officer and NASA Liaison Ken Shields. “We look forward to continuing that legacy during this year’s conference as we focus on how space-based inquiry can further our footprint in space and open new avenues for business models that help drive a sustainable market in low Earth orbit.”

Additional information about the conference will be made available in the coming weeks. For more information about ISSRDC 2021 and to register for free, please visit www.issconference.org. We look forward to seeing you at this year’s virtual ISSRDC in August!

About the International Space Station (ISS) U.S. National Laboratory: The International Space Station (ISS) is a one-of-a-kind laboratory that enables research and technology development not possible on Earth. As a public service enterprise, the ISS National Lab allows researchers to leverage this multiuser facility to improve life on Earth, mature space-based business models, advance science literacy in the future workforce, and expand a sustainable and scalable market in low Earth orbit. Through this orbiting national laboratory, research resources on the ISS are available to support non-NASA science, technology and education initiatives from U.S. government agencies, academic institutions, and the private sector. The Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS) manages the ISS National Lab, under Cooperative Agreement with NASA, facilitating access to its permanent microgravity research environment, a powerful vantage point in low Earth orbit, and the extreme and varied conditions of space.
