XPRIZE Founder and Executive Chairman Peter Diamandis Named as Keynote Speaker at the International Space Station Research and Development Conference in San Diego
KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FL. (June 27, 2016) — The International Space Station Research and Development (ISSInternational Space Station R&D) Conference today announced that Dr. Peter H. Diamandis, Executive Chairman of the XPRIZE Foundation, will provide a keynote address at its 5th annual meeting to be held at the San Diego Town and Country Resort & Convention Center from July 12-14, 2016. The ISS R&D Conference was created to connect commercial and academic communities involved in new innovations, breakthroughs, and discoveries onboard humankind’s unique orbiting laboratory. This event is held in coordination with the Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (the ISS National Lab), the American Astronautical Society (AAS), and NASANational Aeronautics and Space Administration.
Dr. Diamandis is an international pioneer in the fields of innovation, incentive competitions, and commercial space. In 2014, he was named one of “The World’s 50 Greatest Leaders” by Fortune Magazine. In addition to his duties at the XPRIZE Foundation, which creates competitions and ultimately awards innovative thought leaders who can disrupt various industries, Diamandis is also the Co-Founder and Vice Chairman of Human Longevity, Inc., a genomics and cell-therapy-based company, and the Co-Founder and Co-Chairman of Planetary Resources, an aerospace company designing spacecraft to enable asteroid detection. Diamandis is the New York Times Bestselling author of “Abundance – The Future Is Better Than You Think.”
